I was gonna get the Turner day trading book, but then saw that it was written in 2000... is that a problem at all? Is anything in the book no longer relevant or does it not cover topics that are relevant now?
Same thing with the idiot's guide: 1999...

Jell had me get Toni Turners "beginers guide to day trading on line"...Fantactic! I really didn't find it too out dated...Helped a huge amount...put that info with some of the online sites and a bunch of reading the threads...worked well for me...Once I had this info...learning to read the charts was the next challenge...still working on that one...but I am learning to "keep it simple" and it seems less complicated...?!

OK so I'll give Turner's day trading book a try then... anyone else second any of the above-mentions or have any other recommendations?
So far it's been great. I don't know much but it seems like I'm learning the fundamentals, which is great if that's it. Not too far yet. As I go along it's like you finnally learn what some of these people are talking about when you read there posts. So I'd say it's not outdated. But what do I know? It seems to me there are basics and different people use them slightly different. Hope it helps.

90 pages into Toni Turner's "A Beginners Guide To Short Term Trading" Now I know why this one was recommended. What a great read!!! Tons of information and it is written so easy to understand.
BTW I bought mine new on amazon.com for $9.00 + $3.00 S&H ($15.95 cover price)
BUT I see a couple used on Ebay right now: One is at $1.99 no bids with $4.50 S&H (ends 4/02)
Also both 'Short-Term Sellling' & 'Day Trading' no bids at .99 with approx. $4.00 S&H (ends 4/01)
This is not meant to be an ad for Ebay .... lol .... just letting others know where to get this great book .... CHEAP!
I see charts and trading in a whole new light, only 90 pages into it.
Especially if you are a newbie, get this book for sure, you won't regret it!!
~~~ That's my .0002 cents worth!
P.S. Looking forward to the chat on Thursday!!
Great story with awesome advice. DePorre, a former attorney, goes completely deaf. Resorts to day trading with $30k leftover from biz and divorce. Makes millions tradings stocks, while protecting his capital.
Stalk your stocks, be patient, then attack!
Let's just say, this method is working for me!!!!!
My personal favorite is "Sun Tzu's Art of War For Trader and Investors" by Dean Lundell
He explains many of the tactics being used against the general publick / trader, by the professional traders and the institutional computers (Program trading).
For instance, when you place a Limit Order, it's like playing poker and showing your cards the whole game. They guys sitting in front of Level II screens will have your lunch.
And, they should change the name of "Stop Loss Orders" to "Lock In Loss Orders".
I like limit orders, heres what I'll pay, here's what I'll dump it at. Otherwise I chase their prices.
I like your last point:D losses suck.
